Touille's pup

Touille had a litter of puppies on the day of the Mayan Apocalypse, Dec. 21, 2012.  Luckily the world decided not to end that day and one of them has grown up to be a winning show dog, Jax, Elwha's Don't Wait For Tomorrow.  Last weekend at the Puyallup dog shows he took the major two of the three days and then at Portland, he took the major the second day to finish his championship.  He also took the Breed over five specials. Dan told me that two of those specials are in the top ten in the breed.  That is pretty impressive!  His dad, Dan, is having a ton of fun with him.  Dan thinks that Jax hung the moon anyway, but is really jazzed that he is doing so well at the tender age of thirteen months.  The dog that took the major the first day of the Portland shows is only six months old and is from my old stomping grounds, New Mexico.  Mr. Deio belongs to Trisa Hansen and Caleb Campbell.  He took Reserve yesterday behind Jax, so keep your eyes open for Trisa and Caleb's boy, Deio!
Here is a picture of Jax as a much younger puppy.  He is out there having fun!  I am eager to see how he looks NOW!  He looks awfully "puppy" in this picture!  So, there's your update!

Another update.  One of the puppies who went to a home last weekend is coming back.  One of her girls  has found out that she is allergic to dogs!  Giant bummer!  Poor Lily and poor Poppy.  Poppy is the one with the hat in the last post.  I can't imagine how sad those girls are going to be.  Poppy too.

Three puppies will go to homes this weekend.  One set of new "parents" is here right now meeting "Romeo."  It looked to me as if it was love at first sight!  He gets to go up to Vancouver, BC, Canada.  Looks to me as if he is a lucky dog.  Two loving parents!

Dan JUST called.  Jax took the breed again today!  He's on a roll!  Keep your fingers crossed for the weekend!

Remarkable weekend

Elwha had a great weekend.
Two babies went to their forever homes, right after Dab decided to run away from home with Don and Shannon to go live on Vancouver Island on Friday.  Lucky dog!!!
On Saturday Fandango left to go live with her two girls and become, for the moment, Poppy.  Poppy is already learning to read, sit, down and lots of other things besides how to go outside to eliminate!  Saturday also Spike went to live with his distant relative, Gracie and her two boys.  Gracie even likes him now and he is a very lucky dog being able to win over people who have, against all rules, let Gracie go to work with Charlene.  Spike will at least start out going to work with Paul, the dad, so he is lucky too.  Pretty wonderful homes....
Then, on Saturday, Jax, one of Touille's kids, took a 5 point major at the Puyallup dog shows and started his quest for majors!  He also took Best of Opposite sex over an already male champion, so that was a bit of cream topping!  Sunday Spencer got the five point major in Puyallup to finish his championship.  Carole will be glad to get him home in time for Crufts.  Such a sweet boy.  Then Monday, Jax got his second major and will finish his championship soon as he now only needs a point or two.  Wow!!!
Now, to go back to Saturday and the weekend.  Touille was due on Friday and indeed was quite uncomfortable and pacing, etc.  She was urpy during the night and started delivering boys at 0500 in the morning.  After four boys, she stopped and took a long walk and went back to nursing the boys.  By the way, I had ordered girls!  Just so you know!  I cleaned up all the mess and got everyone cozy and about noon lay down to take a bit of a rest.  I awoke at about 1300 to squeaking and went over to fix a puppy back on the milk bottle and had to do a triple take when there were not four but five boys up at the trough!  One was still wet.  He needs to be registered "Bout Time, or Finally, or some such!  Still, she misread the order form, and I got five BOYS.  This has been a boy time.  I can't even blame it on the water!  Amazing.
