A Quickie

Little girl is still growing.  I looked at them all this morning when I weighed them.  She is the only one in whom I saw a sparkle of light in the tiny slit between her eyelids.  She, the tiniest, will be the first one to open her eyes!!!!  What a trooper/fighter/spunky lady!

Cool day, low clouds.  Rain tomorrow for the Super Bowl.  Charlotte and the babies will be snuggled down, maybe even reading one of the books I got last weekend at Clicker Expo!  Everybody have fun and stay safe!

Best,

She gained an entire ounce yesterday!!!!

The peanut is growing!!!!  She is more independent and is letting the bulldozers knock her off the milk less often now.  Kathleen, the angel, is plugging her in, still, very often, and together they are creating a SWEET, vibrant little girl.  Yippeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

The puppies are all growing and are beautiful, shiny pups, as is normal.  They should open their eyes on Sunday.  Kathleen will be in Bellingham then and I keep hearing her tell them to WAIT for her to come back to open their eyes!  Nature will do what it wants!  I think that Kathleen is trying to talk me into letting her take them home for the weekend.  She is telling me how much she will miss them!

Sunny day here today.  Not too cold.

Will try to get some pictures this weekend and put them on on Monday.
This is Levi, the daddy of this litter of nine.  Isn't he gorgeous?!!!!

Have fun watching the Super Bowl, if you have a TV.  I don't, so I will just have to snuggle babies!!!!  Life is tough sometimes....

Eight days

Well, they were a week old yesterday.  Yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!  The tiny girl had doubled her weight by this morning.  Thank goodness she is still sucking and getting better at it all the time.  Kathleen and I went to bed at 8:00 PM last night.  We get up every hour or so, so we had to have extra time in bed.  I literally fell asleep in the office yesterday.  Too much!  Something had to give, and what gave was the evening!!!  It worked!  I feel MUCH better today.

I know.  You want pictures!  I can't seem to find the pictures I'm downloading.  Rats!

The puppies are all different sizes and growing and healthy.  Thank goodness.

The pictures will come when I can get them to go onto my download file.  Sorry.

Day 3

OK.  So all is well so far, unless you count the lack of sleep.  Good thing that Kathleen, my daughter, is here helping me!!!

The littlest girl has started gaining weight without supplementation.  I am very happy about that.  She is a fighter for her life.  Those little ones don't always make it because the big ones knock them off the nipples regularly.  We call them bulldozers.  The other little ones are catching up to the bigger ones.  Kathleen and I get up all through the night to hook the tiny girl back onto the nipples.  So far, so good.  She has gained an ounce.

Four puppies are grizzles, five are blues.  Daddy is a blue and Zinger's daddy was a blue.

Sorry, but I have no pictures today.  I am going to go to the Clicker Expo in Portland for the next three days too, so no pics until I'm back.  Kathleen is kicking me out!  She is very good at plugging the baby onto the nipple.

Hang in there and keep those fingers crossed for the tiny one, now called Peanut!

Zinger delivers!!!!!!!

OK.  I'm bowled over.

On Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 19th, at 0200, Zinger started having her puppies.  The first one was a girl.  Yippeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!  Zinger was at Betty's and Skip's house because Lesley, visiting from England, and I had been at a Nosework conference for the weekend.  Betty had been planning on bringing Zinger to me on Monday.  Skip called at about 0206 and told me that we had had a girl.  I jumped into my clothing and into the car and was at Betty's by 0300, which is pretty darn good.  I probably looked a fright, but Betty, Zinger and Skip didn't seem to mind!  By then there were two girls!!!!!!  Double YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

By 0530 Zinger was finished delivering her brood.  Five girls... and four boys.  Yes, nine.  NINE.  In one litter.  I am blown away.  So are many of the people who have gotten a message from me announcing this.

This is what nine Border Terrier puppies looks like.  Poor Mom, although she seems very happy and contented, and is even eating a bit of food.  She is quite picky after delivering, and before delivering for at least a month, just so you know.  It takes a lot to keep her from being a skeleton at the end.

Anyway, this is to announce that Zinger, CH Elwha The B's Knees and GCH Meadowlake Fontainebleau, Levi, have a new litter on the ground of five girls and four boys.  There is a mix of grizzles and blues.  Aren't they shiny?!!!!!  I just love to look at them at this age and drink in the look of smooth babies.  Fingers crossed that they can all get enough milk to stay healthy and active.  Two very small ones in the litter, a girl and a boy.

Stay tuned,
